CAREER:
Worked himself into Mississippi State’s immediate plans at wide receiver during his true freshman season, a campaign that was cut short by a leg injury . . . A medical redshirt was granted to restore his freshman season . . .Continued to battle injuries during his redshirt freshman campaign . . . Has played in 22 games during his MSU career, one coming in that redeemed true freshman season . . . He has earned seven starting calls . . . Has caught 13 passes for 217 yards, an 16.7-yard average, and a pair of touchdowns . . . Came to State after playing just one season of high school football in the Alabama state ranks.
2006:
Played in 11 games during his sophomore season, earning a starting call at one of the wide receiver positions in the first three games of the year . . . Only failed to see action at Georgia in Week 8 . . . Had two catches for 17 yards on the year . . . Entered the statistics sheet for the first time in Week 3 vs. Tulane . . . Had his only two catches on the year for 17 yards against the Green Wave . . . Also saw some playing time on special teams coverage during the season . . . Had one tackle (Kentucky) in that capacity . . . On the verge of being considered for a move to the defensive secondary prior to spring practice, he responded with a solid four-week session and solidified his stand at the top of one wide receiver position . . . Made nine catches for 88 yards, a 9.8-yard average, and one touchdown during three spring scrimmages.
2005:
Played in 10 of a possible 11 games at wide receiver during his redshirt freshman season, missing action only in the season-ending win over Ole Miss . . . Earned four starts on the year (season’s first two games vs. Murray State and Auburn), Week 4 game with Georgia and Week 8 contest at Kentucky . . . Caught 11 passes for 200 yards, an 18.2-yard per catch average, and two touchdowns . . . Wasted little time showing that he had recovered from off-season surgery by starring in State’s season-opening 38-6 win over Murray State . . . Tied for the team lead with five pass receptions against the Pacers, totaling 98 yards . . . Caught a pair of touchdown passes from Omarr Conner against Murray, a 49-yarder with 4:39 left in the first half that gave MSU a 17-6 lead at the time and a 34-yarder on the opening drive of the second half that expanded the lead to 24-6 . . . He became the first Bulldog to record two pass receiving touchdowns in one game since teammate Jason Husband accomplished the same feat in 2004 (vs. Auburn) . . . Returned to the stats sheet in State’s Week 4 game with Georgia . . . Had two pass receptions for 33 yards against the Bulldogs . . . Caught one pass for 56 yards at Florida in Week 6 . . . Added another reception (2 yards) in State’s next game vs. Houston . . . Made it three straight weeks with a single catch (4 yards) at Kentucky in Week 8 . . . Culminated a string of four-straight games with one pass reception (7 yards) against Alabama the following week . . . Proved to be the speed receiver the coaching staff was looking for during the first two weeks of spring ball . . . Stood out at times during the team’s first two scrimmages . . . Missed the final two weeks of work and the Maroon and White game after having minor knee surgery.
2004:
Played in the initial game of his true freshman season, working as a reserve in the wide receiver rotation . . . Recorded no statistics . . . Suffered an ankle sprain during the game and missed the Bulldogs’ Week 2 game with Auburn . . . Diagnosed with a bone spur on his ankle and underwent surgery the final week of September.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Did not play football until his senior season at Lanier High School in Montgomery, Ala. . . . Despite that late start, he earned all-metro Montgomery and honorable mention Alabama Sports Writers Association all-state in his lone season . . . In just seven games during that senior campaign, he had more than 30 pass receptions for 755 yards and seven touchdowns . . . Called “one of the fastest players in the state of Alabama” by the Insiders.com online recruiting service, he has run the 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds, and is consistently in the 4.4 range or better . . . Played baseball, basketball and ran track before joining the football team for his senior season . . . Also an outstanding baseball player, he was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for baseball in the state of Alabama as a junior . . . Solid student in the classroom, he earned his school’s GPA Award for basketball, baseball and track . . . Selected for Alabama Boys State.

Born Keon LaPaul Humphries, 2-27-86, in Jacksonville, N.C. . . . Son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Humphries . . . His father played football at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, 1979-82 . . . His uncle Marvin Humphries played football at Alabama in 1985-86, and a cousin John Humphries III played football at UAB from 2000-02 . . . Majoring in teaching/coaching.
