
Michael Haddix and Glen Collins To Be Inducted Into The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame

STARKVILLE — A pair of Mississippi State greats, Michael Haddix and Glen Collins, are set to be inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame as part of the 2026 class, the Sports Hall of Fame & Museum announced on Wednesday.
Haddix and Collins will be celebrated and formally enshrined during the MS Sports Hall of Fame Induction Weekend on July 31 – August 1, 2026.
Haddix, a native of Walnut, Miss., starred at Mississippi State from 1979-82 before being drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles with the eighth overall pick in the 1983 NFL Draft. During his time wearing the Maroon and White, Haddix rushed for 2,558 yards and 20 touchdowns on 425 carries. He added 353 career receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns to his totals. He had nine career 100-yard rushing games, and he led the team in rushing three straight seasons from 1980 to 1982.
Haddix was a two-time Second Team All-SEC performer. He helped guide Mississippi State to a pair of bowl games, including the 1981 Hall of Fame Bowl Championship. At the time of this release, Haddix still holds a spot in the Mississippi State record book; he ranks seventh all-time in rushing yards and is tied with Nick Fitzgerald for the most yards per rush (6.0), achieved with a minimum of 400 career carries.
Haddix played in the NFL for eight seasons, six with the Eagles and two with the Green Bay Packers. He rushed for 1,635 career yards and three touchdowns while adding 1,310 receiving yards and three scores to his career totals.
Collins, a native of Jackson, Miss., starred at Mississippi State from 1978-81, finishing his career with 205 tackles and 26 sacks. Collins was a First Team All-American as a senior in 1981, when the Bulldogs held opponents to 88 rushing yards per game. To go along with his All-American honor, Collins earned Second Team All-SEC honors in 1980 and First Team All-SEC honors in 1981.
At the time of this release, Collins is tied for eighth on the single-season tackle for loss top 10 chart with 15.0 TFLs in 1981. He had 35.0 career TFLs, which is tied for fourth all-time at Mississippi State.
Collins was the 26th overall selection in the 1982 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He spent six seasons in the NFL, playing for the Bengals and the San Francisco 49ers. He played in 58 career games, totaling 11 sacks.
