November 04, 2025 | Football
STARKVILLE — Mississippi State wide receiver Anthony Evans III earned honorable mention honors for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award for week 10 after a career night at Arkansas on Saturday.
On Saturday, Evans caught five passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns, highlighted by the game-winning touchdown with just 48 seconds left to cap off a fourth-quarter comeback and give Mississippi State its first SEC win of the season. Evans' 111 yards and two touchdowns were both career-highs for the junior receiver from Converse, Texas.
Following week 10 of the college football season, Evans is tied for the SEC lead, 13th in the FBS, in receptions (52). He ranks seventh in the SEC, 25th nationally, in receiving yards (653), and 12th in the SEC in touchdown receptions (4). He is also averaging 72.6 yards per game, the eighth-best mark in the SEC and the 28th-best in the country.
This season, Evans, along with teammate Brenen Thompson, each earned their first three career 100-yard receiving games (Arizona State, Florida, Arkansas). Together, the duo became the first pair of Mississippi State teammates in program history to have multiple same-game 100+ yard receiving performances in the same season. The only other duo to have multiple 100-yard receiving games was Fred Ross & De'Runnya Wilson, who achieved this feat once in 2014 and once in 2015.
Evans (653 yards) and Thompson (716 yards) have combined for 1,369 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Their 1,369 yards are the second-most by an SEC receiving duo this season, behind Tennessee's Chris Brazzell & Braylon Staley, who have combined for 1,511 yards. The pair is also tied for third with Texas in combined touchdown receptions; Tennessee (13), Texas A&M (11) & Alabama (11) lead the way.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced in 2012 by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler, recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.
In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: Played football and graduated from a Texas High School and/or playing at a four year D1 Texas college.
