Bulldogs Finish Third In Season Debut

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Mississippi State women's golf began the season with a top-three finish at the Boilermaker Classic, hosted by Purdue, as they climbed a spot to third in the final round of action.
Avery Weed earned the seventh top five placement of her career, as she finished T5 at 1-under par. After entering the day T6 at even par, Weed was able to climb a spot with a 1-under round on Tuesday. Weed was one of just seven golfers to finish under par.
Alicia Bellendir turned heads in her collegiate debut, as she finished right outside the top 10 at 3-over. In her first collegiate round, she shot 3-under. In today's round three, Bellendir started the day with a double bogey, but strung four birdies across seven holes to help improve her final round score to 1-over.
Samantha Whateley shot her first par or better round of the season in the third day of action, finishing even par with a pair of birdies. Whateley has now carded 27 par or better rounds across her career.
The Bulldogs will return to action on September 18 in the Mason Rudolph Championship, where Whateley won her first individual title last season.
