FAIRFIELD, Texas โ In just her fourth ever collegiate tournament, Alicia Bellendir became the 17th Bulldog in program history to take home an individual championship, as she won the first edition of The Fin at 5-under par at Freestone Lake and Golf Club on Wednesday.
ย
A strong second round ultimately pushed Bellendir over the edge. She shot a career-best 6-under 66 on Tuesday, which ended up being the lowest score by any golfer in any round throughout the duration of the event.
ย
Bellendir has now collected four finishes inside the top 20 season, with none being any worse than T11. She has shot par or better in six of 11 rounds with Tuesday's round becoming her second in the 60s.
ย
As a team, Mississippi State finished the event in third place at 22-over par. The Bulldogs have finished inside the top three in all four events this season.
ย
Samantha Whateley climbed nine spots in the final round of The Fin, finishing T18 at 8-over par. Ines Belchior competed individually and also climbed in the final day of action, finishing T28 after jumping eight positions.
ย
The Fin wrapped up the fall portion of the 2026-27 schedule for the Bulldogs. State will return to action on February 1 in the UCF Challenge, where the Bulldogs finished second last season.
