No. 16 Women’s Golf Set To Conclude Regular Season At Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women's golf is set to compete in their final tournament before postseason play begins when they take on 12 teams at the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate Invitational. The tournament will take place at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth Texas, and kicks off on Monday, March 23.
The Bulldogs will be playing a par 70 course for the first time this season and will play two rounds in the opening day of the event before concluding the tournament on Tuesday. The event features a loaded field, as State is one of nine programs ranked in the 12-team field, which includes three of the top five teams in the nation.
Avery Weed, who is currently the fourth-ranked collegiate golfer, will hold the top spot in the Mississippi State lineup. The Ocean Springs, Mississippi, native finished T14 in last seasons Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate Invitational after finishing under par in rounds one and two.
Ines Belchior will sit in the Bulldog lineup once again. Belchior, who earned an SEC Freshman of the Week honor in February, is currently shooting at a 73.2 average and is currently the fourth-best mark of any freshman in program history.
Samantha Whateley will hold the third spot for the Maroon and White. Whateley is shooting a single-season best 73.0 average and has finished in the top five twice and in the top 20 four times this year, both being single-season bests.
Moa Stridh will be fourth for the Bulldogs. Stridh, who shot a season-best 5-under in the Mason Rudolph Championship, has finished par or better in seven rounds this season, including a pair of rounds in the 60s.
Izzy Pellot will round out the Mississippi State five. At the Old Barnwell Derby Match Play, State's last tournament, Pellot was one of five golfers across the entirety of the field to go a perfect 3-0 in the event.
Lynn van der Sluijs will compete individually at the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate Invitational. This will be the fourth tournament of the season for the freshman.
