Stopping The Run In 2026
- Mississippi State gave up 186 yards per game on the ground last season but has seen the 10th best turnaround nationally, and the most improvement in the SEC, in 2026, giving up 116.5 rushing yards per game this season.
- Against Texas in week nine, State allowed just 60 rushing yards, the second-fewest this season, and notched five sacks, a new season-high for the Dawg defense.
Evans Closing In On Receiving Yards Record
- Senior wide receiver Anthony Evans III is eyeing his former teammate Brenen Thompsonโs single season receiving yards record. Evans trails Thompsonโs record by 388 yards with four games left in the regular season.
- Evans leads all SEC receivers with 56 receptions and is second in the league in yards per game with 92.4.
Tillman Back To Full Speed On Dawg Defense
- Senior linebacker Zakari Tillman was a regular contributor for the Bulldog defense for the last two seasons before being sidelined with injuries in 2026.
- Tillman returned to full speed last Saturday with his first start of the season, racking up six total tackles, a sack, 2.5 TFLs and a fumble recovery.
Feeling At Home In StarkVegas
- Several State standouts have developed as Bulldogs and call StarkVegas home. Safety Isaac Smith led the SEC in tackles in 2024 and has remained a loyal Bulldog, Kelley Jones has developed into a top NFL Draft prospect, and Canon Boone has anchored the offensive line for the last two seasons, to name a few.
- Key Bulldog playmakers have also seen their production increase in the Jeff Lebby era. On the 2026 roster alone, Anthony Evans III, Zion Ragins, Fluff Bothwell, LJ Prudhomme, Jakheem Shumpert-Perkins, Miles McVay, Sam West, Jaray Bledsoe, Amaree Williams, and Jalen Smith have started more games as Bulldogs compared to stops at their previous schools.
Homecoming At Davis Wade Stadium
- Mississippi State is 59-24-3 in Homecoming games, which began in 1937. The Bulldogs have won 14 of their last 16 Homecoming games.
