Dawgs Split Between Wake Forest And Florida
April 15, 2026 | Track & Field
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State track and field will compete in the final regular-season away meet, split between the Wake Forest Invitational and the Tom Jones Memorial.
The Wake Forest Invitational, hosted by Wake Forest, will be contested on April 16 and 17 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. State is sending a small group of women's distance runners to compete against a stacked field.
Nelly Jemeli, All-SEC cross country runner and NCAA Championship qualifier, will compete in the 3000m steeplechase for the first time this season. Naomi Jepleting, program record holder in the 5000m, is set to compete in both the 5000m and 10,000m races.
Gainesville will see most of the Bulldogs over Friday and Saturday, with athletes entering in both the track and field events. The Tom Jones Memorial will be the most competitive of the season thus far, with both universities and professional athletes across the country set to partake in the event.
The Bulldogs currently have six individuals and a relay in the top 30 nationally, all of whom are set to compete this weekend. On the track, Nicholas Fakorede has the fifth-fastest 100m time in the nation, and the men's 4x400m is ranked No. 22 nationally.
The throws squad has a strong group in the national rankings, with Roury McCloyen in the shot put, Kevin Grubbs in the discus and Marie Rougetet in the hammer, all of whom sit in the top 20 in the NCAA. Tuomas Narhi and Kaylee Clark add to the depth of the squad, both in the top 25 in the NCAA in the javelin.
Action will be at Wake Forest on Thursday evening and Friday afternoon at UF.
