Dawgs Conclude The Outdoor Season Opener At Home

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State track and field concluded the final day of competition at the outdoor season opener, the Alumni Bulldog Relays.
"We truly appreciate the community's support this weekend during our annual Alumni Bulldog Relays. It's always exciting to compete on our home turf in front of our home crowd. The team had a strong opening weekend and is setting the groundwork to build on the momentum going into next weekend and the rest of the season."
The final day of competition accumulated eight event wins and an entry into the program's all-time list.
Action began in the women's javelin, where Kaylee Clark set a massive personal best of 53.429m, the second-best throw in program history.
The 4x100m relays were the first track events of the day, where the men's squad brought home the win in 40.64 over the 400m distance.
Tuomas Narhi brought home the win in his javelin season opener, throwing 72.61m in the first round of the competition.
Jayden Thrower jumped 15.29m in his outdoor triple jump debut to win the event, the final field event of the meet for the Bulldogs.
Nicholas Fakorede ran 10.30 for his 100m season opener, earning the win in the event. Two freshmen swept the 400m, with De'Kayla Simpson winning in 54.69 and Keayari Lee in 46.24.
The meet concluded in the 4x400m relays, with the Bulldogs sweeping both the men's and women's races.
State will return to action next weekend, competing in the Battle on the Bayou, hosted by LSU.
