Dawgs Close Day One In The Bayou

BATON ROUGE, La. – Mississippi State track and field concluded the first day of competition at the Battle on the Bayou, hosted by LSU.
State battled through a day filled with weather delays, still putting together solid performances against a stacked field of ranked competitors.
The day began in the women's hammer, with Marie Rougetet launching 67.19m to finish third overall in a stacked field.
Alla Parnov improved on her fourth-highest pole vault mark in program history, jumping 4.00m for a season's best.
Track events began in the 400m hurdles, with Anje Nel running 58.36 for a new personal best, moving to the fourth spot on the MSU all-time list. She also took the win in the event.
Brooklyn Quanz earned the win in the 3000m steeplechase, just shy of a personal best at 10:32.69.
Nelly Jemeli ran 4:17.21 to finish second in the 1500m. Her time is a new personal best and the fifth fastest time in program history.
Gabrielle Boulay, Mallory Streetman and Harry Ross-Hughes picked up personal bests in the 1500m to conclude the first day of competition.
Action will resume tomorrow morning with the women's discus and men's shot put in the field, and the 4x100m relays on the track.
