Bulldogs Finish Tenth In Chevron Collegiate

HUMBLE, Texas. – Mississippi State women's golf climbed one spot in the final round of the Chevron Collegiate, as they finished in tenth at 10-over par.

Samantha Whateley finished one stroke off what would have been her fourth career top five finish, as she completed the tournament T11 at 2-under par. After shooting 1-under in the first round and 1-over in the second, Whateley capped off the tournament with a round of 2-under.

Whateley carded a team-high four birdies in the final round of action. Her three-day total of 2-under was the third time this season she has finished under par in a tournament, the most in a single season during her career and the second-most of any Bulldog this season.

The junior from South Africa has now carded 23 par or better rounds in her career and is three par or better rounds away from carding the 10th-most of any Bulldog in program history.

Ines Belchior cracked the top 20 for the fourth time this season, finishing T20 at even par. Belchior shot even par in all three rounds of the Chevron Collegiate, which gives her nine par or better rounds on her freshman campaign, the seventh-most of any Bulldog freshman in program history.

The Bulldogs will return to action on March 16 when they travel to Aiken, South Carolina, for the Old Barnwell Match Play, hosted by the University of South Carolina.
