Bulldogs Begin Play At Carmel Cup

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Mississippi State men's golf will begin the 2025 fall campaign hosting the Carmel Cup at famed Spyglass Hill Golf Course in Pebble Beach, California.Â

"We are excited to get the season started at a very special place," head coach Dusty Smith said. "We are very thankful to be a part of such a great event and look forward to the challenges that a great field and a great course will provide us."

This year's event features a field of consistently successful programs. Five of State's competitors this weekend advanced to the NCAA Championships last season, including national champion Oklahoma State.

The Bulldogs look to build upon a successful 2024-25 season that featured the program's seventh-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. State compiled four top-five finishes with a victory at the Desert Mountain Collegiate.

State continues to re-write the record books under Smith. His 2024-25 squad put together 36 individual rounds in the 60s, the third most in program history. The top five totals in this category have all come under Coach Smith. The Bulldogs' 87 rounds of par or better last season also rank third at MSU.

Garrett Endicott (No. 1) – Senior – San Antonio, Tex.
Â
Endicott begins 2025 in the number one spot after an excellent summer. He put together three top-10 finishes with a runner-up showing at the Southern Amateur and an appearance in the Western Amateur quarterfinals.

His showings at the Sunnehanna Amateur, Northeast Amateur, Southern Amateur and Western Amateur equaled to finishing third in the prestigious Elite Amateur Series. He receives automatic exemptions into the final stage of qualifying for the 2026 U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur.Â

His career-best World Amateur Golf Ranking of No. 52 earned him an exemption into his second-consecutive U.S. Amateur appearance, where he concluded his summer.

Endicott led the Bulldogs last season with two top-five showings and three top 10s. He was named SEC Golfer of the Week on March 12 for his runner-up finish at the Desert Mountain Collegiate.

His 58 career rounds of par or better and 29 rounds in the 60s both rank third in program history. He compiled 11 sub-70 rounds last season, which is third in the MSU record book.Â

Ugo Malcor (No. 2) – Senior – Paris, France
Â
Coming off a successful summer season, Malcor holds down the Bulldogs' two spot. He put together two top-10 finishes with an appearance in British Amateur match play.

He placed tied for sixth at the St. Andrews Links Trophy before advancing to the British Amateur Round of 32. He qualified for match play after tying for second in the stroke play portion. He concluded his summer with a third-place showing at the Grand Prix de La Baule.

He reached a career-high World Amateur Golf Ranking of No. 165 and represented his native France in the European Amateur Team Championship.

Last season in the Maroon and White, Malcor finished with two top 10s. His 14 par or better rounds ranked third on the team, as did his 72.50 scoring average. He placed seventh at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational and sixth at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship.

Jackson Cook (No. 3) – Freshman – West Point, Miss.
Â
Cook commences his career in the Maroon and White this weekend. The West Point native's summer play featured runner-up showings at the Mississippi State Amateur and the Spirit of America Championship.

He comes down the road to Starkville following a decorated high school career. He was ranked Mississippi's No. 1 junior golfer in the Class of 2025, according to the AJGA Rolex Rankings. He won the Mississippi State Boys Junior Amateur in 2021 and 2023.

He was a key contributor on four-consecutive MAIS Class 3A State Championship teams with Oak Hill Academy and never lost a team tournament while playing for the Raiders. He earned medalist honors at the 2024 USGA Four-Ball Qualifier.

Dain Richie (No. 4) – Graduate – New Berlin, Ill.

Richie enters his second season at MSU following summer play that featured a 11th-place finish at the Tennessee State Amateur.

He was one of the Bulldogs' most consistent players last season, leading the team with 20 rounds or par or better – tied for seventh in program history. His 71.97 scoring average ranked second on the team.

Richie compiled two top 10s and a team-best six top-20 finishes. He put together a stretch of four-consecutive top 20s and led the Bulldogs with a 15th-place showing at the NCAA Reno Regional.Â

Trip Duke (No. 5) – Sophomore – Fairhope, Ala.
Â
Duke enters the starting lineup for the first time at State. He notched two top-20 finishes during the summer, tying for fourth at the Yellowhammer Invitational and 13th at the Southeastern Amateur.Â

He found action in four events last season, including a career-best tie for 19th at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship. He fired two rounds of par or better that week, led by a 3-under 69 in round two.

Duke placed 24th at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate and carded a 2-under 69 in the final round of the Mason Rudolph Championship.

Jackson Skinner (No. 6) – Freshman – Birmingham, Ala.
Â
Skinner begins his Bulldog career after a summer that saw him finish tie for 14th at the Alabama State Amateur and reach the final stage of U.S. Amateur qualifying.

He was the No. 4 Class of 2025 golfer in Alabama, according to the AJGA Rolex Rankings. He recorded five junior tournament victories in his career and was named First Team All-State by the Alabama Golf Association in 2024.

Skinner won the AJGA Atlanta Classic in 2024 and was victorious in three Southeastern Junior Golf Tour events.
