Late Charge Leads Mississippi State To Mossy Oak Collegiate Title
April 14, 2026 | Men's Golf
WEST POINT, Miss. – Mississippi State took home the Mossy Oak Collegiate Championship, rallying from nine shots back to share the title with Ole Miss.
Â
This is State's second team victory of the 2025-26 campaign and the first of the spring season. This is also MSU's first time claiming the Mossy Oak Collegiate and State's first home event win since the 2014 Old Waverly Collegiate Championship.
Â
Dain Richie earned his first collegiate victory in his final regular-season tournament in the Maroon and White, tying for first at 8-under overall. He is State's first individual champion since Hunter Logan won the Visit Knoxville Collegiate in 2023.
Â
"I thought it was a heck of a round today," head coach Dusty Smith said. "We knew we had to come out fighting to even have a chance. Our intention was top three or better with a chance to win, and we were able to do that, which is great heading into postseason."
Â
"I'm really proud of these guys. They've had their backs against the wall the past three tournaments, and they really responded. They played the big moments. There are so many I can think of this week, but we played big when we needed to."
Â
Following a second round of 5-under 67, Richie played a steady final round of 3-under 69. Starting his day with a bogey, the graduate senior carded consecutive birdies and made the turn at 1-under. He began his second nine with a birdie on No. 10 and went on a string of pars, including clutch up-and-downs that kept him with a chance to win.
Â
Relinquishing the lead through 16, Richie nearly chipped in for eagle on the 17th hole and tied the lead with a birdie. He parred the closing hole to finish atop the leaderboard.
Â
Garrett Endicott fired a final round of 4-under 68, the Bulldogs' best round of the day, to claim his second top-five finish this season.Â
Â
Endicott made the turn at 2-under and began his second nine with two birdies on holes 10 and 12. After giving back a shot on the 13th, the senior drained a big birdie putt on No. 16 and held his score through his final two holes.
Â
Ugo Malcor played gritty golf in round three, finishing the event in a tie for 11th at 3-under overall. Starting his round 1-under through 11, Malcor bogeyed back-to-back holes before making a clutch par save on the 15th to get back into a rhythm. He hit the par-five 17th hole in two and carded a birdie, finishing round at even par.
Â
"I can't say enough about all the guys, but especially the seniors," Smith added. "Garrett Endicott finishing top five in his final Mossy Oak Collegiate, Ugo Malcor having a fantastic week, and Dain Richie getting his first collegiate win. I can't say enough about those guys."
Â
Jackson Skinner saved his best golf for the final day, carding a bogey free round of 2-under 70. The true freshman recorded all pars in his first 11 holes before birdieing the 12th. When the team needed it most, Skinner drained a long-distance birdie putt on No. 17 and parred the last to improve 19 spots on the field and finish in a tie for 23rd.
Â
West Point native Jackson Cook finished his first Mossy Oak Collegiate in 45th, his round highlighted by a chip-in birdie on the eighth hole.
Â
The Bulldogs head into the SEC Tournament on April 22-24 in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
Â
"I'm very proud of everybody this week," Smith concluded. "Hail State."
