STARKVILLE - The Mississippi State Diamond Dawgs won both games in Sunday's doubleheader to complete the series sweep over Auburn. The Dawgs won game one, 3-1, and then took game two, 4-3.

Jurrangelo Cijntje picked up the start on the mound for the Diamond Dawgs in game one. Cijntje put in 6 2/3 innings of work, punching out five on his way to his sixth victory of the season. Cam Schuelke and Tyson Hardin put together 1/3 of an inning each of relief work and allowed a single hit.

Four Dawgs grabbed two hits in game one: Dakota Jordan, Hunter Hines, Connor Hujsak, and Bryce Chance. Hujsak went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored. Hines went 2-for-4 at the plate for game one and grabbed an RBI.

Brooks Auger started on the mound for game two, pitched three innings, and punched out three Tigers. Cole Cheatham, Cam Schuelke, and Nolan Stevens collected 2 1/3 innings of relief work and struck out one. Tyson Hardin put in two innings of work and struck out five to grab his third win.

Connor Hujsak played hero in game two for the Dawgs as he singled to left field to score Dakota Jordan from second to claim the victory. Hujsak finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate. Logan Kohler picked up three RBIs on the box score and went 2-for-3 at the plate. Bryce Chance went 2-for-3 in the game and plated two runs.

Today's sweep is the first SEC home series sweep since the Diamond Dawgs swept Texas A&M in 2021 and the first sweep over Auburn at home since 2011.

Mississippi State is back for a midweek contest in Memphis, Tenn., to face Memphis on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
