Pico Kohn followed and pitched one inning. Connor Hujsak led the team with four RBIs in the game as he went 2-for-4 and had a triple and a homer. He did not allow a hit and tallied five punchouts to earn his third win of the season. Since March 21, Hardin has been hard to get when he appears out of the pen. Opponents are hitting .083 off him over his last five appearances. In 7 1/3 innings, he has only allowed two hits and has ten strikeouts.
- The Diamond Dawgs Friday night ace, Khal Stephen, shined again this weekend against Auburn. He picked up his third win in a row after pitching seven innings in an 8-1 victory. He tied his career-high in strikeouts with 11. The prior week at Ole Miss, He pitched eight scoreless innings against the Rebels. This tied his career-high and was a season-best. The eight innings pitched were the first time a Diamond Dawg had pitched eight or more innings in a game since Will Bednar pitched eight innings against Alabama on May 21, 2021. Against Ole Miss, the Dawgs won 8-0, the second shutout of the year for the Diamond Dawgs. Since his outing at Texas A&M, Stephen has pitched 34 1/3 innings and has only allowed three earned runs (5 total), striking out 40 and picking up four wins. Over his last five starts, he has posted an ERA of 0.79.
- Last Tuesday, the Mississippi State Bulldogs recorded a shutout for the third time this season. The Dawgs shut out Alcorn State on Tuesday night. They also shut out Ole Miss (4/12) and Mount St. Mary's (3/2). The Diamond Dawgs' last shutout prior to this season was June 30, 2021, when they defeated Vanderbilt to win the 2021 National Championship. During the 2021 season, the Diamond Dawgs tallied eight shutouts, four of which came in a row from March 7 to 12. During that span, the Diamond Dawgs defeated Kent State, Grambling, Louisiana, and Eastern Michigan.
