STARKVILLE – No. 7 Mississippi State (1-2) returns to action as the Diamond Dawgs host UAPB (1-2) in non-conference action at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Dudy Noble Field.

The Lions opened the 2022 season at the MLB Andre Dawson Classic in New Orleans and ended the weekend with a 1-2 record. UAPB began the weekend with a 9-3 loss to New Orleans, followed by a 15-7 defeat to Prairie View A&M on Saturday. In Sunday's weekend finale, the Lions notched win No. 1 on the campaign with an 11-7 victory over Grambling State.
UAPB is hitting .308 as a team following the opening weekend of play, led by Aidan Martinez who has posted a .500 clip in three games. The Lions pitching staff allowed 31 runs in 26.0 innings this past weekend and enter Tuesday's game with a 9.35 team ERA.
