State Women’s Tennis Hosts No. 7 Georgia, ULM in Twinbill on Sunday

STARKVILLE – Coming off of an exciting 4-3 upset of No. 33 Tennessee Friday - highlighted by three ranked-singles victories - the Mississippi State women's tennis team looks to continue their success as they host No. 7 Georgia and ULM in a twinbill on Sunday at home.
State (8-4, 2-1 SEC) is set to face the Georgia Bulldogs (7-2, 2-0 SEC) at 1 p.m. CT, before battling the Warhawks at approximately 4 p.m., both at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre on campus.

MSU In The Oracle ITA National Rankings…
After defeating No. 31 Georgia Drummy of Vanderbilt for her first ranked victory in dual match play this season, sophomore Emma Antonaki jumped up 34 spots this week, and leads the Bulldogs at No. 88 in the country. Antonaki has won four straight matches, including two in a row over ranked foes. State's doubles pair of Magda Adaloglou and Tamara Racine appeared at No. 56 in the country this week.
Know The Foe: Georgia
Georgia enters Sunday's match with a 7-2 record, 2-0 in the SEC. The Bulldogs have blanked their first two SEC opponents in Tennessee and Ole Miss to open their conference slate. Six of Georgia's eight players appear in the latest ITA rankings, including two among the top 30 in 26th-ranked Katarina Jokic and 29th-ranked Lea Ma. Jokic owns a 5-2 record in dual match play at the No. 1 position, while Ma holds a 4-1 ledger on court two. No. 60 Meg Kowalski, No. 84 Marta Gonzalez, No. 85 Morgan Coppoc and No. 122 Eleni Christofi join Jokic and Ma in the rankings.
In doubles, Georgia boasts two ranked tandems in No. 30 Anna Hertel and Jokic and No. 54 Coppoc and Kowalski. Hertel and Jokic have compiled a team-high six wins at the No. 1 position, while Coppoc and Kowalski hold a 3-1 ledger.
Know The Foe: Louisiana-Monroe
ULM holds a 2-1-1 record and is coming off of a 3-3 tie at McNeese State on Feb. 22 in its latest match. Jimena Garbino and Madalina Grigoriu lead the Warhawks with three wins apiece.
Need To Know …
Following Sunday's contests, the Bulldogs will open a four-match SEC road trip over the next two weekends when they travel to College Station, Texas, to take on No. 36 Texas A&M this Friday, March 13.

- Mississippi State is in its 46th season of women's tennis, with Daryl Greenan in his 11th season at the helm.
- Georgia leads the series with MSU 41-0, with the last victory coming last season by a 4-0 decision in Athens.
- Against ULM, State leads the series 15-9. The Bulldogs defeated the Warhawks 4-3 in Starkville on Feb. 16, 2012, in the last meeting of the two programs. MSU has claimed 15 of the last 16 meetings between the two teams.
- Sophomore Emma Antonaki is looking to continue her hot streak as she has recorded back-to-back victories over ranked opponents. Antonaki defeated No. 31 Georgia Drummy of Vanderbilt last Sunday for the second-highest ranked win of her career, before claiming a three-set victory over No. 59 Johanna Silva of Tennessee Friday. Antonaki has won four-straight matches.
- Junior Magda Adaloglou now owns a team-leading six-match win streak in singles (all six coming in straight sets) and has won eight of her last ten matches. She downed Tennessee's 103rd-ranked Carly Briggs to aid in MSU's 4-3 win over the Volunteers Friday.
- The Bulldogs have claimed the doubles point in nine of the 11 matches it has been contested this season.
- Adaloglou and Tamara Racine are 7-3 at No. 1 doubles this spring.
- The freshman-senior duo of Marta Falceto and Sara Lizariturry are 7-1 in dual match play at the No. 3 position.
