Two Bulldogs Take On The ITA All-American Championships

STARKVILLE – Bryan Hernandez Cortes and Raphael Vaksmann will compete in the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma this week.
The tournament marks both Hernandez Cortes and Vaksmann's first action of the fall season. At the 2025 All-Americans, Hernandez Cortes advanced to the main draw, winning four matches to advance through both the prequalifying and qualifying stage. Vaksmann also played in the 2025 event, defeating Constantinos Djakouris from North Carolina in the prequalifying stage.
Vaksmann will start in the qualifying stage on Monday, where he will take on Illinois' Jeremy Zhang at 1:30 p.m. as the 17th seeded player in the qualification bracket. Hernandez Cortes will start competition in the main draw starting on Wednesday. The pairings for the main draw will be released on Tuesday night.
The pair of Bulldogs both enter the tournament ranked within the top-100 in the ITA Preseason Rankings. Hernandez Cortes comes in at 61st in the nation and Vaksmann 95th. Vaksmann's ranking marks his highest career ranking, reaching 123rd nationally in 2025 while Hernandez Cortes reached as high as 34th in the nation last season.
Hernandez Cortes and Vaksmann represent key returners for the Bulldog's 2026-27 team led by Head Coach Matt Roberts. Mississippi State continues to compete as one of the nation's elite college tennis programs. Under Coach Roberts, the Bulldogs have reached consecutive NCAA Quarterfinals and continue to experience success in the SEC and on the national stage.
