STARKVILLE — Mississippi State senior kicker Kyle Ferrie has been named to the 2026 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Preseason Watch List, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced Friday.
Entering his fourth season as the Bulldogs’ starting kicker, Ferrie is positioned to rewrite the Mississippi State record book. He is already the program’s all-time leading kick-scorer and is rapidly approaching further milestones. Ferrie needs just six more field goals to become the leader in that career category and only 39 more points to become the highest-scoring player in Mississippi State history, regardless of position. Last season, Ferrie connected on 17-of-20 field goal attempts, including a long of 55 yards.
The Lou Groza Award, now in its 35th year, honors the top place-kicker in college football. The preseason watch list includes 35 of the best returning kickers in the country, though all FBS kickers remain eligible to be selected as semifinalists throughout the season.
A panel of more than 100 experts, including FBS head coaches, sports information directors, media members, and former finalists, will select 20 semifinalists on November 17, followed by three finalists on November 24. The national winner will be announced on December 10 during the Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN.
