Bulldogs Close Fall At Steelwood Collegiate Invitational

LOXLEY, Ala. – Mississippi State men's golf wraps up its fall season at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational in Loxley, Alabama, this weekend. The two-day event is hosted by South Alabama at Steelwood Country Club.

State faces another competitive field this weekend. The 15-team field features three top-15 opponents: No. 3 Auburn, No. 12 Texas A&M and No. 13 Georgia Tech.

"We are looking forward to this week and finishing the Fall season out the right way," head coach Dusty Smith said. "It is important for us to compete hard this week and to run our process at the highest level. Steelwood is a great test of golf that will challenge ball control coming into the greens. We have a good game plan for the week so now it's time to trust the preparation we have put in and go compete like Bulldogs."

The Dawgs enter their final fall tournament with three top-10 finishes, and five different Bulldogs have combined for eight individual top-20 finishes. Mississippi State most recently placed 11th at the Fallen Oak Collegiate.

Freshmen Finn Burkholder and Yago Horno have recorded 11 rounds of par or better, including six rounds in the 60s. The duo is responsible for all three of State's top 10 individual finishes this season.
