State Extends Winning Streak In Five-Set Thriller Over Duke

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State volleyball extended its winning streak to seven with a five-set win over Duke this evening.
State played in its first five-set match of the season, after dropping the second and fourth sets to the Blue Devils. State outscored Duke 15-10 in the fifth set to clinch the victory in the Showdown at the Net.
The Bulldogs earned 57 kills, with four players entering double-digits. Lindsey Mangelson led the squad with 15, and Mele Corral-Blagojevich followed close behind with 13.
Seven out of the 10 Bulldogs who played scored in tonight's match-up, with four scoring double-digits. Mangelson led the team with 17 points.
Cayley Hanson earned a career high of 43 assists this match, earned over the five sets played. The team totaled three aces this match, with Hanson, Avery Power and Bernardita Aguilar each earning one.
McKenna Yates led the team in digs, totaling 17 in the five sets played. Mangelson was close behind, earning 14 for a career high. The team totaled 65 digs with a .952 reception percentage.
The Bulldogs will return to action in the Southern Miss Invitational this weekend, taking on Mercer on Saturday and the hosts on Sunday. The match against Southern Miss will be available to stream on ESPN+.
