Diamond Dawgs Even Series With No. 5 Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Mississippi State Bulldogs evened the series with the No. 5 Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday night with an 8-5 win. The Diamond Dawgs' head coach, Chris Lemonis, won his 200th career victory at Mississippi State with the victory.
The Diamond Dawgs came out hot in game two, putting up eight runs by the fourth inning. Two two-run home runs by Logan Kohler and Dakota Jordan in the fourth inning proved too much for the Razorbacks.
Dakota Jordan showed the power bat off with a double, home run, and three RBIs on the night. Jordan ended the game 3-for-4 in the batter's box. Logan Kohler stayed hot at the plate for the Bulldog offense, picking up his fifth home run of the season. Kohler went 2-for-3 at the plate and picked up two RBIs.
Jurrangelo Cijntje earned the start on the mound for game two as he went 4 1/3 innings of work and grabbed a punchout. Cam Schuelke pitched 2/3 innings and earned his third win this season. Brooks Auger led the bullpen with four strikeouts in his three innings of relief work. Tyler Davis came in to seal the win in the ninth inning and did his job picking up a strikeout in his single inning pitched. Davis picked up his third save of the season.
Mississippi State is back in action for tomorrow's rubber match. The first pitch is set for 2 p.m. and will be aired on SEC Network.
