Diamond Dawgs Take Down No. 6 Florida, 12-2

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Mississippi State baseball team evened the series with No. 6 Florida on Saturday evening, winning game two of the series, 12-2. The Diamond Dawgs hit five home runs in the game, the first time they accomplished this feat since the 2022 season.
The Diamond Dawgs offense was the story of the game, putting together 14 hits on the night. The Bulldogs showed off the power of the bats with five home runs in the Saturday contest, the first time since April 5, 2022.
Dakota Jordan stayed hot in Gainesville, going 3-for-5 with two home runs and a double on the night. Connor Hujsak cleaned up the bases for the Diamond Dawgs, collecting six RBIs. Hujsak collected three hits in five plate appearances, with two home runs and a double added to the box score. David Mershon, Jordan, and Hujsak all hit the long ball to total five home runs for the Bulldog offense.
Jurrangelo Cijntje earned the start on the mound. He pitched seven innings and recorded eight strikeouts to earn his fifth win of the season. Tyson Hardin closed out the game, tossing the final two innings and striking out three, allowing just one hit and a walk.
The Diamond Dawgs are back for the series finale Sunday. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. CT and will be broadcasted on SECN+.
