Cross Country Readies For Joe Piane Invitational
October 03, 2024 | Cross Country
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Looking to build on the six personal bests set in its last race, the Mississippi State cross country team is preparing for the Joe Piane Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame on Friday.
The race will be held at the Burke Golf Course, with the women's blue division 5k starting at 10:30 a.m. CT.
"Notre Dame will be a great experience racing against a deep and competitive field," assistant coach Erinn Stenman-Fahey said. "This should ideally set us up to handle the depth and quality of teams we will face during championships season. I'm excited to see the group make the most of this opportunity."
MSU is among 22 teams, facing its toughest competition of the season thus far. The Bulldogs will toe the line with three ranked squads, No. 1 Northern Arizona, No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 5 BYU, as well as conference foe Vanderbilt.
State will send nine girls to the line Friday morning. Ramat Jimoh, Gabrielle Boulay, Kaitlyn Burge and Trinity Holland look to improve on their personal bests set at the last race, The Southern Showcase on Sep. 13. Rounding out the lineup are Madison Jones, Jaelyn Ogle, Morgan Grace Sheffield and Mallory Streetman, three of which are running in their second race of the season. Jimoh currently leads the squad in the 5k, clocking 17:10.46 in her season opener.
Live results for the race can be found here.
