PREVIEW: Women’s Basketball Set To Host Texas A&M Sunday

STARKVILLE – Following an impressive victory on Thursday, the Mississippi State women's basketball program will be back on the hardwood Sunday to host Texas A&M. The Bulldogs and Aggies will tip-off at 3 p.m. and be broadcast live on SEC Network.

• The last meeting between the two programs was in Bryan-College Station, Texas. on Feb. 6, 2021. Texas A&M walked away with the victory, 69-41.

• Caterrion Thompson had her best game in Maroon and White on Thursday. Thompson scored 27-points, the most of her Bulldog career behind a single-game high for any Bulldog this season, seven made threes.

• After scoring no more than seven points in any game last season, Thompson has been in a zone the last couple of weeks with four double-digit scoring games in her last five games.

• Anastasia Hayes continues her strong performances in SEC play. Hayes is averaging 21.3 points per game, the second-most ppg by any SEC player this season. She trails only Kentucky's Rhyne Howard (22.6).
• Annie has scored at least 20-points in four of the team's seven SEC games.
• She ranks fourth in the SEC ins field goal percentage (51%) and free throw percentage (82%).
• She leads the team with 31 made free throws in conference play (31-for-38). She made a season-high nine freebies in Thursday's win over Missouri.
• Hayes is also nearing 1,800 career points. She currently sits at 1,782, with 270 coming in Maroon and White.
