No. 41 State Hosts No. 21 Vanderbilt Saturday To Conclude 2021 Regular Season

STARKVILLE – No. 41 Mississippi State women's tennis (10-10, 2-10 SEC) will close out the 2021 regular season slate at home Saturday as they host No. 21 Vanderbilt at Noon CT at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. Admission to all MSU home tennis matches is free.
The Bulldogs will celebrate Lilian Poling's career in a Senior Day ceremony preceding the match.
Current MSU Tennis COVID Attendance Protocols
Under current COVID protocols, fans may attend MSU home matches at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre, with seating allowed in designated areas only. Continuing MSU and SEC COVID protocols, face coverings over the nose and mouth shall be required as a condition of all guest during ingress, egress, and movement throughout the stadium, as well as any time guests are unable to maintain the recommended physical distance from others who are not in their same household or when actively eating or drinking.

Bulldog Notes
State is ranked 41st nationally in this week's latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association national poll (April 7). Two Bulldogs are currently ranked nationally in singles – No. 32 Emma Antonaki and No. 74 Magda Adaloglou. In doubles, Adaloglou and Tamara Racine find themselves at No. 14 in the country.
MSU owns a 29-21 record in doubles dual match play overall this season as well as an impressive 60-39 mark in singles, with Antonaki and Adaloglou pacing the team. Antonaki owns a team-leading 13 dual match wins (13-3), while Adaloglou is 11-2. Adaloglou has claimed 19 of her last 22 singles outings, dating back to last season, while Antonaki has won all but three of her last 23 matches.
True freshman Chloé Cirotte has been excellent in her first semester in the Maroon and White, going 9-5 in dual match competition. Marta Falceto (5-4) also owns a winning mark in dual match play thus far this spring. Alexandra Mikhailuk has notched nine victories, Racine has tallied six, and Lilian Poling owns five in team action for State as well.
Know The Foe
Vanderbilt enters Saturday's match with a 12-8 ledger, 4-8 in the SEC. The Commodores travel to Starkville on a six-match losing skid, but five of those six setbacks have come to current Top 25 teams.
VU is ranked 21st in the country as a team. Individually, Vanderbilt is led by Christina Rosca, who is ranked 49th nationally. In doubles, the Commodores boast three pairs in the top 60. Emma Kurtz and Holly Staff find themselves ranked 34th. Staff partners with Anna Ross to form the nation's 54th-ranked duo, while Kurtz and Cruz are 58th.
Vanderbilt leads 37-8 in the all-time series with MSU, and has claimed the last two matches. The two programs last met in 2020, where MSU fell in a tight 4-3 match in Starkville.
Last Time Out
In a match that saw three three-set affairs, four tiebreakers, and lasted over four-and-a-half hours, MSU came up just short in a 4-3 heartbreaker against No. 23 Kentucky on Thursday in Starkville. Registering points for State in the contest were Emma Antonaki, Magda Adaloglou and Alex Mikhailuk.
Next Up For MSU
Following Saturday's match against Vanderbilt, the Bulldogs will begin preparations for the 2021 SEC Women's Tennis Championship which will be held April 19-23 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
