State To Face Memphis At AutoZone Park On Tuesday

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Following a three-game Southeastern Conference series sweep of Tennessee, Mississippi State (15-10) will look to keep its winning ways against Memphis at AutoZone Park.
With first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. CT, the Tuesday non-conference matchup will serve as game one of a four-game road swing this week for State.
Both teams are coming into the contest in the midst of hot streaks as the Bulldogs have won their last three by a combined 14 runs, while the Tigers (16-7) have won six straight and eight of their last nine games.
MSU leads the all-time series 50-25 and holds a 4-3 advantage in games played at AutoZone Park in Memphis. The most recent meeting between the two teams came last season as State won 11-1 in Starkville, while the last matchup at AutoZone came in 2015 with a 7-1 victory for the Tigers.

- Brent Rooker leads the SEC in batting average (.424), slugging percentage (.870), on-base percentage (.518), RBIs (38), doubles (13), home runs (8), total bases (80) and stolen bases (14).
- On Saturday, six Bulldogs -- Jake Mangum, Brent Rooker, Ryan Gridley, Tanner Poole, Harrison Bragg and Josh Lovelady -- had multi-hit performances. While Mangum, Rooker and Lovelady each had multi-RBI performances.
- Jake Mangum went 4-for-5 on Saturday and Sunday. The last time he had 3+ in two straight was Feb. 19 and 21 against Texas Tech and Morehead State. On Saturday, Mangum notched a career-high five RBIs.
- This season, Rooker leads State in two-out RBIs (12) and has also posted impressive showings at the plate with two outs (15-for-32, .469) and runners on base (23-for-51, .451).
- With a 335-foot home run in the first inning on Sunday, Brent Rooker has now hit home runs in back-to-back games three times this season. His eighth dinger of the season extended his hitting streak to 10 games, a career-high.
- Senior catcher Josh Lovelady casually went 6-for-11 (.545) at the plate over the last week with five RBIs and three runs scored. On the year, Lovelady is the most successful Bulldog at advancing runners (11-for-14, .786).
- Sophomore Elijah MacNamee hit his first-career home run on Friday vs. Tennessee
- On Sunday, MacNamee recorded a career-high in hits, going 3 for 5 with 2 RBI, which tied his career-high for RBI.
- Sophomore LHP Konnor Pilkington has thrown 6+ strikeouts in all six of his appearances this season. Pilkington leads the SEC in strikeouts (53) & has struck out 33 in his last 20.2 IP
- Sophomore closer Spencer Price is tied for first in the SEC in saves with six.
- Senior catcher Josh Lovelady drove in a career-high three runs on Saturday night.
- On Saturday, RHP Peyton Plumlee earned his third quality start and third win of the season, tossing six strikeouts while allowing no earned runs in six innings pitched.
- Junior relief pitcher Ryan Rigby has yet to allow an earned run in five appearances this season, and tied a season-high for strikeouts with two in his 0.2 innings to close the game.
