MSU Looks To Rebound Against Demons
November 27, 2016 | Men's Basketball
STARKVILLE, Miss. – After dropping its first home game of the year to Lehigh on Friday, Mississippi State welcomes Northwestern State to Humphrey Coliseum on Monday looking to get back into the win column.
Â
It's the eighth meeting between the two, with the Bulldogs holding a 6-1 advantage.
Â
Tip is set for 6 p.m. on the SEC Network, with Kevin Ingram and Will Perdue handling the broadcast. The game can also be heard on the MSU radio network with veterans Jim Ellis and Richard Williams on the call.
Â
MSU dropped to 3-2 on the year following Friday's 87-73 home setback to Lehigh. Senior guard I.J. Ready paced MSU with a season-high 20 points, while freshman guard Tyson Carter poured in 16.
Â
THE SERIES
MSU is 6-1 against the Demons, with a 4-1 mark at home. The two last met in Jackson, Miss., in December of 2011, with the Bulldogs posting an 82-67 win.
Â
COACHES
Ben Howland is in his second year at MSU and 21st overall. As a head coach in four different stops, he is 418-225 with a 17-19 mark with the Bulldogs
Â
Mike McConathy is in his 18 year with Demons and owns a 269-262 ledger. In 34 years as a head coach, he is 621-421.
Â
QUOTABLE
"I just think we held onto the ball for too long, and we were trying to be heroes at times (Lehigh game). I think we have to learn how to play team ball. With Q being gone, he's been carrying the offensive load, I think we've got to find out how to share the ball and attack zones better." — I.J. Ready on playing the rest of the year without the injured Quinndary Weatherspoon.
Â
NEXT 2
Dec. 1 vs. Oregon State and Dec. 4 against Georgia State, both at Humphrey Coliseum.

- Northwestern State is the first team on the schedule MSU has played before. The Bulldogs first five games were initial meetings.
- MSU is 48-5 against the 13 teams that currently comprise the Southland League. Southeastern Louisiana is the team the Bulldogs have played the most (18-1), while McNeese State is last foe MSU played (a 66-47 win on Dec. 30, 2014).
