Anastasia Rentouli
- Title:
- Student Assistant Women's Tennis Coach
- Email:
One of the most accomplished student-athletes in Mississippi State Women's Tennis history, Anastasia Rentouli will remain with the program in 2019-20 as the team's student assistant coach.
The Athens, Greece, product concluded a very successful four-year career for the Bulldogs this past spring, earning numerous honors throughout her time as a Bulldog both on and off the court.
Rentouli played a major role in producing one of the most successful stretches of MSU women's tennis history while being named All-SEC Second Team in both 2018 and 2019. She stands fourth all-time at State in overall career victories (150), second in singles wins (87) and tied for third in doubles wins (63). More impressively, she finished in the top 5 all-time at State for winning percentage in all three of those categories, including No. 1 all-time in singles (87-32, 73.1%). Ranked as high as No. 36 nationally during her career in singles (61st in doubles), Rentouli saved her best season for her last, going a team-best, 24-6 in singles in 2018-19 and led State with a 6-1 record in SEC play.
In March 2018, she claimed five-consecutive, three-set, match-clinching wins (that led State to a program-record five-straight SEC wins) with three of her wins coming after being a set down. In the second match of the streak, she clinched MSU's win against No. 2-ranked and eventual SEC Champion Vanderbilt, which was the highest ranked win in both MSU men's and women's tennis history.
Off the court, Rentouli was equally impressive. After earning SEC Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors last spring, Rentouli also notched CoSIDA Academic All-District honors for the second year in a row senior after notching a sparkling 3.97 cumulative GPA during her four seasons. She is currently working to complete a double major in finance and marketing with a minor in public relations.
Rentouli was a three-time SEC Community Service Team selection, while also being a four-time ITA Scholar Athlete and SEC Academic Honor Roll honoree. She received a 2019 Spirit of State award, which formally honors MSU students who excel in campus involvement, service to the university, and make an impact on their peers and the broader campus community.
For three years, Rentouli was a member of M-Club, Mississippi State's student-athlete community service-based organization - serving as its president during her senior campaign - leading meetings, activities, and projects. She also served as MSU's Student-Athlete Advisory Council's (SAAC) Campus Involvement Chair. In that role, she bridged Bulldog student-athletes with on-campus events and promotes opportunities for them to excel.
In 2018, Rentouli was honored with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Southern Region Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award and also garnered the ITA's Southern Region Cissy Leary Sportsmanship Award in both 2018 and 2019.
In May 2019, she was named one of just two national recipients of the 2019 Wilson/ITA Promoter of the Year award. In conjunction with that, she served an internship at Wilson Sports' global headquarters this past summer in Chicago, ending the stint by supporting Wilson's efforts in its official store in the shadows of the legendary Arthur Ashe & Louis Armstrong Stadiums at the 2019 US Open Championships in New York.
Rentouli also served as volunteer assistant tournament director for the 2019 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship's 1st & 2nd Rounds, which MSU hosted. She assisted the tournament director with all aspects of administering the event.
Prior to coming to MSU, Rentouli was an integral part of the Greek National Team as a junior.
