Senior Day Wraps Up Non-Conference Schedule For Soccer

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State soccer will close out its non-conference schedule on Sunday when the Bulldogs host Charlotte at 1 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
Senior Day ceremonies honoring goalkeepers Jenny Harrison and Sarah Wommack are slated to begin at 12:45 p.m. prior to kickoff.
The Bulldogs (6-0-0) are looking to complete a perfect regular-season non-conference slate for the fourth time in program history, excluding the shortened 2020-21 COVID season (2018, 2012, 2009). With a win Sunday, MSU will finish non-conference play at 7-0-0 for the first time since 2018 and tie the longest regular-season, non-conference winning streak, home or away, on record at 10 games.
State can break its record for the longest regular-season, non-conference unbeaten streak at home on Sunday as well. MSU has not lost such a match at home since Aug. 31, 2023 (16-0-0). Thursday night's win tied a 16-0-0 run from Sept. 4, 1995-Sept. 16, 1998, that began with the second-ever match for the program.
A victory on Sunday would make Kevin O'Brien the first MSU coach ever to win his first seven games with the Bulldogs.
Slim Shooting: This year's 4.8 shots allowed per game would be a school record and ranks second in the SEC behind only Auburn (3.8).
On The Front Foot: Mississippi State has scored within the first 20 minutes in five of six matches this season and scored in the first 10 three times. The Bulldogs have only trailed for 15:02 this season (2.8 percent of play) while leading for 399:01 of 540:00 minutes (73.9 percent of play).
Hailing Hailey: Hailey Johnson has recorded at least one point in all but one match this year. She has scored or assisted on seven of State's 17 goals and been on the field for all but one.

The 49ers were off on Thursday, and Sunday's match is their only game this week. Sunday's match will be Charlotte's first time traveling outside of the eastern time zone this year and the 533-mile trip is the team's first time going more than 200 miles from its own campus. The Niners have taken 86 shots this season for an average of 17.2 per match, which leads the American Conference. At that pace, Charlotte is on track to cross the 300-shot mark for the first time since 2017 season. Evie Craven's 4.40 shots per match leads the AAC and ranks 27th nationally, but she has yet to score.Next Up
