2014: Redshirted his freshman year on campus • Played summer ball for the Lima Locos, where along with MSU teammates Ben Hudspeth and Austin Sexton helped win the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League regular season championship • Led the GLSCL in RBIs.
High School: Rated a top 50 first baseman in the country by national scouting service Perfect Game, as well as the second-best first base prospect in Alabama • Named 2013 Rawlings Honorable Mention Southeast Region • Won a state championship in baseball all four years of high school, while being named ASWA/AISA 2012 Player of the Year in both football and baseball • Hit .433 with seven homers, driving in 63 runs on 52 hits to go along with a .519 on-base percentage • Owned a .541 average at the plate as a junior with six homers and 69 RBIs • Also had the greatest single-season of any quarterback in Alabama prep history in 2012, breaking the AHSAA and AISA record with 4,182 passing yards as the signal caller • As quarterback at Edgewood Academy, won three-straight AISA Class AA state championships and was victorious in his final 31 games • Earned all-state honors in baseball in 2012 and 2013 and football in 2011 and 2012 • Owned a 4.2 weighted GPA in the classroom and scored a 28 on his ACT • Chose Mississippi State over Florida State, Auburn and others.
