2017: Redshirted during his first year on campus in Starkville. Spent the summer following his redshirt season playing summer ball for the Purcellville Cannons in the Valley Baseball League.
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Ocean Springs High School under Brian Rea • Helped the Greyhounds to back-to-back district titles in 2014 and 2015 • Garnered all-district honors as a junior and as a senior • As a senior in 2016, finished with a 2-6 record but a 1.82 ERA in 50 innings pitched, while holding a 53/12 strikeout/walk ratio • At the plate, hit .277 with 21 RBI • Earned a spot in the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) North/South All-star Game, where he was awarded the Mark Vinson Leadership Award • As a junior in 2015, owned a 4-1 record with a 1.76 ERA in 59.2 innings and 39 strikeouts • Hit .269 with three homers and 11 RBI • Played in the MHSAA Futures All-Star Game with the best juniors from around the state • Two-year starter at quarterback for the Greyhounds under coach Ryan Ross, where he earned the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame Rocky Byrd Senior Quarterback Award, given to the Mississippi gulf coast’s most outstanding senior quarterback.
