STARKVILLE – Mississippi State received more recognition on Wednesday as both Tomas Valincius and Jacob Parker were recognized by Perfect Game.
Valincius was selected as a first team Midseason All-American by Perfect Game while Parker was picked to its Freshman All-America second team. Both Bulldogs have actually produced better numbers since Southeastern Conference play began.
In seven starts this season, Valincius is 6-0 with a 0.91 earned run average with 56 strikeouts and 11 walks through 39 2/3 innings with opponents hitting .173. In SEC action, the sophomore left-hander is a perfect 3-0 with a flawless ERA, 30 strikeouts and just five walks across 19 innings and has held hitters to a measly .109 batting average.
Parker has appeared in 21 games and drawn 14 starts so far this spring. The outfielder from Purvis is hitting .333 overall with three doubles, six home runs, 21 RBIs and is a perfect 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts. In conference play alone, Parker is batting .389 with a pair of homers, four RBIs and a steal across seven games (six starts).
Also on Wednesday, Valincius was tabbed to Baseball America's Midseason Pitcher of the Year Watch List.
Parker, Valincius and the rest of the fourth-ranked Diamond Dawgs will be back in action on Thursday hosting No. 5 Georgia for a three-game series starting at 6 p.m. on SEC Network+.
