No. 49 Mississippi State Secures Ranked Win Over No. 50 Arkansas

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State women's tennis earned its third SEC victory and first ranked win of the season with a 4-0 win over No. 50 Arkansas.
The Bulldogs earned a doubleheader sweep when hosting their sixth doubleheader of the season against No. 50 Arkansas and Southern Mississippi.
State started off the day with a conference showing against Arkansas, 4-0. MSU gained early momentum by collecting the double point with wins on courts two and one. Athina Pitta/ Gianna Oboniye defeated Jimena Gomez Alonso/ Brooke Schafer, 6-1.
Chiara Di Genova/ Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz clinched the doubles point with a ranked victory against No. 39 Carolina Gomez Alonso/ Anet Koskel, 6-3.
In singles play, Mississippi State carried that momentum by earning the first set on five courts. Carolina Troiano earned her third SEC win of the season by defeating Arina Babenko, 6-2, 6-4. Kempenaers-Pocz collected her first conference singles victory in the maroon and white, defeating Anet Koskel, 7-5, 6-2.
Di Genova sealed the match for Mississippi State, rallying for a 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 win over Alexandra Panagiotidou.
The Bulldogs continued their dominance in the second match of the day, sweeping Southern Miss, 4-0. Mississippi State secured the doubles point with wins on courts one and two before rolling through singles with victories on courts six, five and two.
