March 18, 2026 | Men's Golf
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mississippi State's Garrett Endicott and Bryson Hughes each earned honors from the Southeastern Conference this week. Endicott was named SEC Golfer of the Week while Hughes was tabbed SEC Freshman of the Week.
Â
Endicott notched a fifth-place showing at the Schenkel Invitational, marking his best finish of the season. The senior from San Antonio, Texas, opened the event with consecutive rounds of 5-under 67 before settling with an overall score of 9-under 207. This is his third top 10 of the season and fifth top 20.
Â
His first two days marked his 34th and 35th career rounds in the 60s, which places him second in program history.Â
Â
This is Endicott's second SEC Golfer of the Week honor, having earned the award on March 12, 2025, for his runner-up finish at the Desert Mountain Collegiate. He was twice named SEC Freshman of the Week during the 2022-23 campaign.
Â
Hughes put together a seventh-place finish at the Schenkel, his best finish in the Maroon and White. The freshman was the only Bulldog to card under-par rounds all three days, and he closed the event with consecutive rounds of 3-under 69 – his best rounds at Mississippi State – to finish with a total score of 7-under 209.
Â
He played steady golf throughout the tournament, tying for the second-most pars in the field while carding the fewest number of bogeys to complement his 10 birdies.
Â
Hughes is the fourth freshman in program history to receive the honor. In addition to Endicott, Ford Clegg earned the award twice in 2018-19 while Drew Wilson was honored in 2023-24.
