Dawgs Conclude Day Two Of SEC Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Mississippi State track and field concluded the second day of the SEC Indoor Championships, hosted by Texas A&M.
The day was highlighted by a new program record and several entries to the program's all-time best list.
Action started in the weight throw, where Marie Rougetet extended her fourth-place spot on the all-time list with a new personal best of 19.14m. The men competed shortly after, with Roury McCloyen adding another program record to his name. He threw 19.94m for a new personal best and the farthest mark in program history.
After two days of events, the heptathlon concluded with Sacha Rifflart finishing fourth with 5,518 points. His performance is the second highest in program history, and he earned the first points for the men's team this weekend.
The day ended on the track, where three Bulldogs etched themselves into program history. In the women's mile, Milicent Kemboi ran the fifth fastest time ever by a Bulldog at 4:42.34. In the women's 400m, Jessicka Woods clocked in at 54.12 for the third fastest time in program history. De'Kayla Simpson extended her now fifth-place spot on the list in the same event with a 54.43 personal best.
Nicholas Fakorede punched a ticket to the 60m final, running the fifth fastest time in the field at 6.58, just shy of his personal best. The final, alongside the rest of the competition, will be contested tomorrow evening.
