Bulldogs Ready For National Televised Contest In Austin

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women's basketball will travel to Austin, Texas, for the first time in eight years for a nationally televised matchup against the fourth-ranked Texas Longhorns. Tipoff for the contest is set for 1 p.m. on SEC Network.

NOTES:

Mississippi State dropped their last contest inside of Humphrey Coliseum to the Florida Gators, 71-56.
Freshman Madison Francis scored 20 points in the contest, marking the fourth time she has scored 20 or more points in a game this season.
Francis also led the Bulldogs in rebounds (13), blocks (3) and steals (3). She knocked down a team-leading six free throws in the contest.
Freshman Jaylah Lampley recorded a career high 11 rebounds against the Gators.
Thursday's matchup was only the fifth time that the Bulldogs shot under 40 percent this season.
Seven different Bulldogs have led the team in scoring this season.
Francis has led State in scoring in eight games, the most of any Bulldog.
The Bulldogs have had 5 or more players in double figures in eight games this season. 4 or more have scored in double figures in 15 games.
Three Bulldogs average double figures - Francis (13.3), Nwaedozi (12.4) and McPhaul (10.2).
Francis remains the SEC's block leader as a true freshman at 2.9 blocks per game, a mark which is second in the nation.
She is the only SEC freshman to average more than 1.0 blocks and one of four players in the SEC to average 2.0 or more. (min. 10 GP).
Franics' 77 blocks are second in the nation and eighth all-time in a single season in program history. She needs five more to tie the freshman record at MSU.
Favour Nwaedozi is one of four players in the SEC to currently average a double-double.
Nwaedozi has gained 12 double-doubles so far this year and is averaging 12.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

Texas is 10-3 on the season vs. ranked opponents and has 4 wins over top-10 teams this season (No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 South Carolina, No. 5 LSU and No. 10 Oklahoma)
Texas is 65-5 all-time at Moody Center and have won 40 in a row at home.
Madison Booker is averaging 18.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in SEC play, while shooting 47.1 percent from the field.

SERIES HISTORY:

The six-game all-time series between the Bulldogs and the Longhorns is split at three wins a piece.
In Austin, each team has won one contest a piece. This will be the first meeting between the two in the Moody Center.
Texas won last year's meeting in Starkville 68-64, the first meeting between the two as a conference matchup.
