
Mississippi State Dominates, Advances to ITA Team Indoors Quarterfinals to Face No. 1 Virginia

DALLAS – No. 6 Mississippi State men's tennis opened their 2026 ITA National Team Indoor campaign with a 4-1 victory over No. 23 Florida on Friday evening at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex. The third-seeded Bulldogs improved to 7-0 on the season.
Mississippi State claimed the doubles point behind wins on courts two and three. The duo of Mario Martinez and Michal Novansky earned a 6-4 victory over Florida's Pablo Perez and Adhithya Ganesan, while Bryan Hernandez Cortes and Raphael Vaksmann cruised to a 6-1 win over Kevin Edengren and Tanapatt Nirundorn. The top doubles match was left unfinished with the Bulldogs leading 5-4.
In singles play, Mississippi State picked up three straight-set victories to clinch the dual. Martinez Serrano followed his doubles win with a 6-4, 6-4 decision over Lorenzo Claverie on court three, Roberto Ferrer Guimaraes defeated Kevin Edengren 6-2, 6-4 on court five, and Novansky sealed the match with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Andreas Timini on court six. Florida's lone point came on court two, where Henry Jefferson defeated Petar Jovanovic in three sets.
With the win, the Bulldogs advance to the quarterfinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship. State will take on the No. 1 Virginia Cavaliers at 3:30 p.m. CT.
