Battle Of The Bulldogs Set For Thursday

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women's basketball returns to Humphrey Coliseum on Thursday for the first time since February 1st to take on the Georgia Bulldogs. Tipoff for the contest is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network+. Fans in attendance are encouraged to wear black. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free black State script shirt. Â

- Mississippi State dropped their last contest to #3 South Carolina and enters the game off Sunday's open date.
- Madison Francis led the Bulldog offense with 12 points against the Gamecocks, her 17th game in double figures this season.
- Eight of Francis' 17 games with 10 or more points have come in State's 10 conference games.
- Kharyssa Richardson added 11 points, which added to her single-season best of games in double figures and made the total 10.
- The Bulldog offense has been distributed across the board throughout the season. Seven different Bulldogs have led the team in scoring across 24 games.
- Francis and Favour Nwaedozi have both led the team in scoring seven times, the most of any Bulldog.
- Three Bulldogs are averaging double figures: Francis (13.1), Nwaedozi (12.6) and Destiney McPhaul (10.4). Richardson, Trayanna Crisp, Jaylah Lampley are all just shy of double figures, as they all average over nine points a game.
- Francis was named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watchlist, making her one of four freshman in the country to be added.
- She is the only player in the nation to have recorded games with seven blocks and seven steals.
- Francis' is ninth in program history for blocks in the season and is one of two freshmen on the list.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT – GEORGIA
- Georgia re-entered the win column after a two-game skid with a victory over the Missouri Tigers.
- Four Georgia players average double figures - Dani Carnegie (18.5), Mia Woolfolk (12.3), Trinity Turner (11.5) and Ryle Theuerkauf (11.3). Carnegie, Woolfolk and Turner are all sophomores.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Georgia leads the all-time series 30-23.
- State has won eight of the last 10 contests, including winning the last two.
- Sam Purcell is 2-1 against Georgia.
