Bulldogs Continue Winning Streak With Sweep Over Marist
September 07, 2025 | Volleyball
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Mississippi State volleyball concluded the Blue Raider Bash with a sweep over Marist, leaving Murfreesboro 3-0 over the weekend.
"What a weekend for the Volleydawgs! Winning is so hard, and winning on the road is even harder," said head coach Julie Darty Dennis. "I'm so proud of this team for playing disciplined volleyball this weekend and taking care of business. We were focused on our side of the net, playing clean and seeing how hard we could play, and I thought we did such a great job staying locked in on those goals. The result was exactly what we wanted."
This victory marks the bulldog's sixth straight win this season and is the best start to a season since 2022, in terms of victories. State has yet to drop a set to an opponent this season, going on a six-game three-set winning streak, the first time for the program to achieve this since 2006.
Mele Corral-Blagojevich led the squad in kills and hitting percentage, earning 11 on 21 attempts for a .476 percentage total. The team totaled a .395 hitting percentage this match, with eight Bulldogs hitting over .250.
McKenna Yates led in digs, earning 10 towards the squad's 36 total. She also led the team in service aces, earning three for the Bulldogs this match. Corral-Blagojevich also led the squad in points, earning 12.5 over three sets.
Gha'Naye Whitfield-Moss and Noella Obi were named to the Blue Raider Bash All-Tournament team after their performances this weekend.
The Bulldogs held Marist to less than 16 points in all three sets, as well as a .053 hitting percentage throughout the match.
At the conclusion of today's match, MSU leads both the SEC and NCAA in hitting percentage, with a .404 total over the course of the season. Cayley Hanson also leads the nation and conference in assists per set, averaging 12.11.
"We are excited to get home and welcome Duke on Wednesday, and we need our best friends and family to help us pack the Griss for the SEC/ACC Showdown at the Net!" said Darty Dennis.
The Bulldogs return to action this Wednesday evening, taking on Duke at home in the SEC/ACC Showdown at the Net.
