CARY, N.C. – Mississippi State women's tennis collected two victories at the ITA All-American Championships this past weekend, highlighted by strong performances from Thessy Ntondele Zinga and Gianna Oboniye.
Ntondele Zinga opened her first ITA Tournament with an impressive 6-1, 6-3 win over Nicole Teodosescu in Friday's pre-qualifying round before falling to Claire Hill, 6-1, 6-2, the following day.
Oboniye began in the qualifying draw, dropping her opening contest to Maralgoo Chogsomjav, 6-4, 6-1. The Bulldog bounced back in consolation play, however, earning a hard-fought 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 victory over Campbell Ricci.
The Bulldogs return to action at the Samford Fall Invitational on Oct. 3, where five student-athletes will represent the Maroon and White. State will then continue its fall slate at the ITA Regional Championships in Auburn (Oct. 13–17). The Bulldogs will also compete in the Roberta Allison Classic in Tuscaloosa (Oct. 31–Nov. 1) before wrapping up the fall with postseason ITA events in November.
