Bulldogs Score Thrice On Day Two Of The SEC Outdoor Championships
May 16, 2025 | Track & Field
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Mississippi State track and field concluded the second day of the SEC Outdoor Championships with three scoring performances.
The second day of competition, riddled with weather delays, underwent a large schedule change to accommodate inclement conditions.
The day began in the multis, with Kennedy Jackson and Lewis Barber both finishing in eighth in their respective events. Barber earned a combined total of 5,736 points to finish his first decathlon of the season. Jackson matched her placement from the indoor championships, earning 5,284 points over the seven events in the heptathlon.
Nelly Jemeli made her SEC debut in a big fashion, running 10:07.34 for a fifth overall finish. Her time is a new personal best and solidifies her as the fourth fastest finish in program history.
The sprints and hurdlers had a solid showing on the track, competing in the preliminary rounds of their events.
Three Bulldogs earned personal bests in the first round of the 400m, with Sherman Hawkins just missing the final, running 46 flat for a lifetime best.
Jaden Billings and Jessicka Woods performed well in the 100m hurdles, with Woods running a season's best of 13.31 and Billings running a lifetime best of 13.53.
Kennedy Stringfellow closed out the day for the Bulldogs in the long jump, earning 7.61m to finish ninth in his second outdoor conference final.
The final day of the championships begins tomorrow afternoon in the women's discus, with running events starting later that evening. The meet is available to stream on SEC Network+.
