
Two Podium Finishes Earned To Conclude Conference Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Mississippi State track and field closed out the SEC Outdoor Championships, earning a runner-up and bronze medal finish on day three of competition.
The Bulldogs earned four podium finishes, 10 scoring performances, and 25 points for the women's team and 22 for the men's over the course of the weekend.
The day began with the women's triple jump, with Manie Mevo leaping 12.85m for a personal best and the third furthest mark in program history.
Track events began with the women's 800m final, with Ramat Jimoh and Hayley Ogle representing the Bulldogs in their first SEC final in the event. Jimoh earned a lifetime best, charging to a 2:03.64 finish for a bronze medal finish. Ogle followed closely behind, running 2:06.76 for eighth place.
The men's 800m final came shortly after, with Abdullahi Hassan and Sam Navarro as the sole Bulldogs, both of whom qualified for the indoor SEC final earlier this season. Hassan matched his indoor performance, earning the runner-up position with a 1:45.64 effort. Navarro earned a lifetime best of 1:47.46 to finish ninth overall.
Jessicka Woods put on a show in the 400m hurdles, entering as the sixth seed. Woods stormed to a 57.01 finish, earning the fourth-place position in her first SEC final.
The individual events concluded with the women's 500m, with three Bulldogs earning top 15 finishes. Naomi Jepleting led the squad, running 16:00.54 for ninth. In her first outdoor 5000m race, Milicent Kemboi ran 16:05.13 for the second fastest time in program history. Gabrielle Boulay finished fifteenth, running 16:22.31 for a new personal best, moving to the fourth spot on the program all-time list.
The Bulldogs will await approved entries to the NCAA East First Rounds, set to be contested in two weeks in Jacksonville, Florida.
