TEAM NOTES
- Mississippi State was handed a 96-80 defeat by No. 16 Iowa State on Monday evening at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
- The game featured three ties and eight early lead changes during the first 10 minutes of the opening half.
- Ahead 29-27 at the 5:07 mark, the Cyclones got going behind 24 of the next 32 points to take a 53-35 advantage in the locker room.
- Iowa State kept the Bulldogs at arm's length and closed out the 16-point decision which marked the Cyclones first series win in four meetings.
- Keys for Iowa State included forcing the Bulldogs into 26 turnovers which tied the most for a Chris Jans coached team. His New Mexico State squad committed 26 turnovers at Loyola Marymount on December 11, 2021.
- The Cyclones scored 28 of their 36 field goals on the interior en route to a 56-30 edge in paint points. Iowa State also scored 29 of the game's 36 points off turnovers.
- Mississippi State did secure a 37-31 rebounding advantage.
- The Bulldogs have compiled a 36-4 mark versus non-SEC opponents during the regular season with Coach Jans at the helm.
- State has posted an 11-3 regular season record against fellow major conference squads (ACC, BIG EAST, Big Ten, Big 12, former Pac 12) under Coach Jans.
- Coach Jans has led the Maroon and White to a 20-3 record during the month of November.
- As a team, the Bulldogs hit on 29-of-58 from the field (50.0 percent), sank 11-for-27 from three-point territory (40.7 percent) and sank 11-of-14 at the foul line (78.6 percent).
- State dropped to 20-7 under Coach Jans when shooting 50 percent or better.
- Conversely, Iowa State registered a 36-of-70 shooting effort (51.4 percent), connected on a 5-of-22 clip on its three-pointers (22.7 percent) and knocked down 19-for-25 at the charity stripe (76.0 percent).

- Led State in scoring with 25 points where he knocked down four three-pointers and shot a perfect 5-5 from the line.

- State fell to 8-4 when Hubbard hands out five or more assists.
