THE BOTTOM LINE: Mississippi State fell short against No. 16 Iowa State in a 96-80 decision during a neutral site showdown at Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Monday night. The Bulldogs' 15 first-half turnovers proved to be costly in the loss, igniting a 24-8 Iowa State run to close out the opening frame as the Cyclones surged to a 53-35 lead. In the second half, Iowa State kept its foot on the gas pedal and sustained its lead for the remainder of the game.
KEY NUMBERS: Iowa State converted 29 points off MSU turnovers which sparked the Cyclones' momentum throughout the contest. Iowa State's bench was also able to outscore the Bulldogs' reserves by a 29-25 margin. Individually, Josh Hubbard led MSU in scoring with 25 points, reaching 20 points for the fifth straight game dating back to the end of the 2024-25 season. Brandon Walker racked up 10 points, three rebounds and two assists in nine minutes of play for State.
