STARKVILLE –  Mississippi State women's basketball returns to Humphrey Coliseum for its first of two home contests this week when it hosts Georgia on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.Â

Mississippi State trails 30-21 overall in its series with Georgia, but leads 13-11 at home. Mississippi State enters Thursday on a current win streak of four straight contests and stands at 19-5 overall, 6-3 in the SEC. The Bulldogs have also won six of their last seven contests.Â

The United States Basketball Writers Association, NCAA.com and ESPN recognized Mississippi State in their weekly honors on Tuesday. USBWA and NCAA.com each tabbed Mississippi State with Team of the Week accolades, while ESPN voted Mississippi State's victory over No. 9/9 LSU its Win of the Week.Â

Mississippi State finished with a different leading scorer in each of the three victories last week, while seven different players tallied 10-plus point efforts.Â

Mississippi State leads the conference with five SEC Player of the Week honors this season, in addition to two Freshman of the Week honors. The seven total weekly conference honors have been awarded to six different players. With a current 9-3 home record and four home contests left on the schedule, Mississippi State has a chance to extend its home streak to 10 or more home wins in 11 of the last 12 seasons.
The contributions from graduate student forward Erynn Barnum was one of the main catalysts in the two road victories last week. Barnum turned in a season-high 22 points - 14 points in the fourth quarter - on 9-11 from the field with six rebounds and three assists in 31 minutes in the 74-63 win at Texas A&M last time out on Feb. 4. Barnum is averaging 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists on 68.2 percent from the field in 30.8 minutes over the last two contests.
With the 77-73 win over LSU in its last time inside Humphrey Coliseum on Jan. 29, head coach Sam Purcell earned his first top-25 and top-10 win as a head coach. It also marked the first top-10 win for Mississippi State since a road win at No. 10 Texas, 67-49, on Dec. 2, 2018. It was also the first sellout crowd under Purcell with 9,121 fans in attendance.Â

Senior guard Jerkaila Jordan leads the team with 16.7 points per game and she is also averaging a career-best 6.3 rebounds in 31.0 minutes per game. She finished with her 10th career double-double and sixth of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds at Texas A&M.Â

Graduate student guard Lauren Park-Lane is second in the SEC and eighth nationally with 141 assists this season. She is one of just three players in the country to rank inside the top eight for total assists each of the last two seasons. Park-Lane has led the team in assists in seven of nine SEC contests and in 20 of 24 overall.
Sophomore guard Debreasha Powe remains one of the conference's best threats from behind the arc and is connecting on a career-best 40.9 percent on 52-127 from three this season - an +10.7  percent increase from her freshman year. Her 52 three pointers rank second in the SEC and her 40.9  percent is third.
Mississippi State remains home to face Florida on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 2:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
