STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women's basketball remains home to close out its season series with Florida inside Humphrey Coliseum on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.Â

Mississippi State leads the series 28-26 overall and 15-9 at home. Mississippi State has won both series contests under head coach Sam Purcell, which includes an 89-77 win at Florida earlier this season on Jan. 22.Â

The win at Florida in the first contest of the season series started its current five-game win streak for Mississippi State. The latest stretch marks the first time since 2019-20 that Mississippi State has won five straight SEC contests. After an 0-2 start its SEC schedule, Mississippi State has won seven of its last eight games and are tied for second in the conference standings.Â

With the latest win, head coach Sam Purcell became the first head coach in school history – men's or women's – to record consecutive 20-plus win seasons to start their tenure. He is also one of 11 SEC head coaches all time to notch 20 or more wins in each of their first two seasons and one of five since 2000. Purcell's 42 overall, 16 SEC and two NCAA Tournament victories also lead all head coaches in program history through their first two seasons.Â

The United States Basketball Writers Association, NCAA.com and ESPN recognized Mississippi State in their weekly honors on Tuesday. USBWA and NCAA.com each tabbed Mississippi State with Team of the Week accolades, while ESPN voted Mississippi State's victory over No. 9/9 LSU its Win of the Week.Â

Mississippi State leads the conference with five SEC Player of the Week honors this season, in addition to two Freshman of the Week honors. The seven total weekly conference honors have been awarded to six different players.Â

With a 76-57 win over Georgia on Thursday, Mississippi State improved to 10-3 at home this season and extend its home streak to double-digit wins in 12 of the last 13 seasons. Senior guard Jerkaila Jordan turned in a game-high 19 points, in addition to nine rebounds, four blocks and four steals against Georgia last time out.

Mississippi State won the first contest of the season series, 89-77, in Gainesville on Jan. 22. Jordan - 21 points, 12 rebounds - and graduate student center Jessika Carter - 20 points, 16 rebounds - each finished with 20-plus point and 10-plus rebound double-doubles to secure the road win. Jordan is averaging 20.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals in her three contests against Florida while at Mississippi State - scoring 20-plus points in all three contests.

Jordan is posting career-best marks in rebounds and points with a team-high 16.8 points and 6.4 rebounds in 31.0 minutes per game. Carter is also having a career year with her best averages in points, rebounds and minutes with a near double-double average of 14.9 points, 9.8 rebounds in 31.7 minutes. Carter has turned in 10 double-doubles this season and 38 for her career.Â

Graduate student guard Lauren Park-Lane leads the SEC and is sixth nationally with 150 assists this season. She is one of just three players in the country to rank inside the top eight for total assists each of the last two seasons. Park-Lane has led the team in assists in seven of nine SEC contests and in 21 of 25 overall.
Graduate student forward Erynn Barnum is averaging 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists on 73.9 percent from the field in 29.4 minutes over the last two contests.
Sophomore guard Debreasha Powe remains one of the conference's best threats from behind the arc and is connecting on a career-best 40.5 percent on 53-131 from three this season - an +10.3Â percent increase from her freshman year. Her 53 three pointers rank second in the SEC and her 40.5Â percent is third.
Mississippi State has a week off from action before it travels to take on rival Ole Miss on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 3:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
