Ole Miss leads the all-time series 66-38 and 26-11 in Starkville; however, Mississippi State has won 15 of the last 18 contests and 15 of the last 16 at home. Mississippi State's last win in the series came inside Humphrey Coliseum, 70-59, on Feb. 13, 2022.Â

Mississippi State earned its first victory of the early conference schedule with a 66-63 road win over Arkansas on Thursday. Mississippi State went 9-7 in regular-season SEC action in 2022-23. With the nine victories, Purcell was the only head coach in program history to have a winning conference record in his debut season and earned the most SEC wins by a Mississippi State head coach in their debut season by almost doubling the previous record of five.Â

With her first of a team-high seven assists at Arkansas, graduate student guard Lauren Park-Lane became one of seven players in NCAA women's basketball history to surpass 2,000 points and 800 assists in her career. Her now 2,089 career points ranks eighth among active players, while her 807 career assists are second. Her and Iowa's Caitlin Clark are the only two players to rank in the top 10 in both active career points and assists marks.Â

Park-Lane leads the SEC and ranks sixth nationally with 108 total assists this season. She is one of just three players in the country to rank inside the top eight for total assists each of the last two seasons. Park-Lane has led the team in assists in each of the first three SEC games and in 16 of 18 contests at Mississippi State.Â

Graduate student center Jessika Carter turned in a dominant performance with 22 points, 19 rebounds, three assists and two blocks on 9-16 from the field and 4-4 from the line in 32 minutes at Arkansas. Carter blocked the Razorbacks' final tying attempt with seven seconds left in regulation to secure the win.Â

With personal SEC-high 19 rebounds against the Razorbacks, Carter has led the team in rebounds in all three SEC contests and eight games this season. Carter has increased her career double-doubles total to 35 - which remains second among active SEC players and is tied for third in program history.Â

The Arkansas effort also marked her 11th career 20-plus points and 10-plus rebounds performance.Â

Carter is currently averaging a double-double with 14.5 points and a career-best 10.1 rebounds. She would be the first Bulldog to average a double-double and also the first post a 10-plus rebound average since Teaira McCowan in 2018-19. Her 10.1 rebounds rank 26th nationally and fifth in the SEC.Â

Mississippi State is one of the top teams nationally at defending without fouling and stand second nationally with only 12.0 fouls per game. That mark will be tested as Ole Miss ranks top-10 nationally in both free throws made and attempted.Â
