Mississippi State Remains On The Road to Face Arkansas On Thursday

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State women's basketball closes out its first road stint in Southeastern Conference play when it travels to face Arkansas inside Bud Walton Arena on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network.Â

Mississippi State leads the all-time series 23-21, but trails 12-7 to Arkansas in Fayetteville. Mississippi State defeated Arkansas in its lone matchup under head coach Sam Purcell with an 87-73 win inside Humphrey Coliseum on Feb. 23, 2023.Â

Mississippi State went 9-7 in regular-season SEC action in 2022-23. With the nine victories, Purcell was the only head coach in program history to have a winning conference record in his debut season and earned the most SEC wins by a Mississippi State head coach in their debut season by almost doubling the previous record of five.Â

With a game-high 25 points at No. 1/1 South Carolina on Jan. 7, senior guard Jerkaila Jordan has now scored 20-plus points for the second-straight contest to open conference action. She has led the team in points in both conference games and in 10 overall contests this season.Â
Jordan leads the team with a career-best 17.4 points per game, which ranks fourth in the SEC as of Jan. 9. She has scored in double figures in nine of the last 10 SEC contests and in 24 of her last 28 games overall dating back to last season. The latest 20-point contest also extends her season total to seven and career total to 28.Â

With her next assist, graduate student guard Lauren Park-Lane will become one of seven players in NCAA history with 2,000 career points and 800 career assists. Her 2,078 career points ranks eight among active players, while her 799 career assists are second. Park-Lane and Iowa's Caitlin Clark are the only two active players with over 2,000 points and 700 career assists and are the only two to rank in the top-10 in both points and assists among active players.Â

Park-Lane ranks seventh nationally and second in the SEC with 101 assists as of Jan. 9. She is one of just three players in the country to rank inside the top eight for total assists each of the last two seasons. Park-Lane has the led the team in assists in each of the first two SEC games and in 15 of 17 games with the Bulldogs.Â
Mississippi State returns home to host rival Ole Miss inside Humphrey Coliseum on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
