Bulldogs Host LSU To Round Out Regular Season

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State volleyball is set to host LSU in the final regular-season match inside the Newell-Grissom Building on Saturday.
First serve is set for 2 p.m. CT and will be aired on SEC Network+ and the Watch ESPN app. The Bulldogs will celebrate four seniors, and fans can enter to win a jersey signed by the senior class. The seniors include Alexa Fortin Goede, Zoe Gonzales, Lauren Myrick and Emily Oerther.
"We are so excited for our home finale against LSU," head coach Julie Darty Dennis said. "Senior Day is always an emotionally charged day, and I think this team is just excited to send our seniors out with as much love and appreciation as possible! The four seniors we are honoring are so special, each in their own special way and have impacted this program in huge ways. I love it when we get to play at The Griss, and we are thankful for the amazing fan support we have had all season. I hope everyone will come out and help us get that awesome home court atmosphere that makes The Griss such a tough place to play!"
Mississippi State is 12-15 overall and 5-12 in SEC play, while LSU is 11-16 on the year and 6-11 in league play.
Myrick has tallied 10-plus digs in 25 matches, spearheaded by 20-plus digs in seven of those outings. Her 4.34 digs per set rank second in the SEC standings. Mary Neal has recorded 2.16 digs per set during her freshman season.
MSU setters Goede and Oerther have dished out 9.61 assists per set. Goede registered 4.37 assists per set on the season, while Oerther leads the team with 5.24 assists per set.
Sophie Agee and Karli Schmidt have combined for 28 matches of double-digit kills for the season. Schmidt has registered 10-plus kills in 16 outings and cranked 2.96 kills per set. Agee has amassed 10 or more kills in 12 matches, while registering 2.68 kills per set.
Amina Shackelford has been a force at the net by earning 2.27 kills per set and tallying 0.77 blocks per set. Caylee Sharkey has collected 1.03 kills per set on the season.
Middle blocker Rebecca Walk has earned 1.70 kills per set on a .357 hitting clip, which ranks third on the hitting percentage SEC leaderboard. Gonzales has totaled 1.19 kills and 1.04 blocks per set.
Admission is free for all home volleyball matches with doors opening one hour prior to first serve.
